Malachi 3:6

“For I am YHWH, I change not …”

This is a most comforting statement for those of us who have our trust in YHWH. He is not one who goes back on His promises. He doesn’t tell us one thing, only to change His mind later. YHWH is consistent in all He does. He is fully trustworthy! This means we can read His Word and know who our GOD is and what He stands for.

This is truly a great comfort for His people!

However, this was not so much of a comfort for many of the people Malachi was speaking to! The next verse says, “from the days of your fathers you have gone away from my ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, says YHWH of hosts …”.

The people may have said that they were followers of YHWH, but their actions proved otherwise. They changed – but He does not!

Sadly, we as followers today, have gone away from many of YHWH’s ordinances also. Many live in a “christianity” of permissiveness and so-called freedom (of a personal and selfish nature). In other words, many believe that YHWH does change and has changed! They suppose the original definitions of sin have been superseded or removed.

While we still live, there is always time for repentance. YHWH says, “return unto me, and I will return unto you”. Let us return to Him and to His ways – all of them!
